THON - A Penn State Tradition

For the Kids

The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately referred to as THON, asks you to join them in their fight to conquer childhood cancer.

In 1973, a small group of dedicated Penn State students held the first Dance Marathon. That year, 34 dancers participated and raised $2,000. Since then, THON’s presence in the Penn State community has grown exponentially. THON now has 15,000 student volunteers, 700 dancers, and has raised more than $61 million, benefiting The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital.

THON is now a year-long effort that raises funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. With the support of students from all across the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and THON Alumni all around the world, we continue to make great strides towards finding a cure for all childhood cancers!

What the Triangle Chapter Does

The Triangle Chapter supports THON as our philanthropic event and strives to create an enjoyable night for Penn Staters and friends in the Triangle-area.

For the past few years, we have gathered at Oh Mulligans, home of our football game parties, to raise money for THON.

“Together Without Limits”

Once again this year your Chapter held a THON party at Randy’s Pizza on February 19th.
In addition to a raffle at the bowl game, and wrapping gifts at Barnes & Noble, we sponsored a pizza party at Randy’s Pizza, in Durham.

Forty members, and friends watched the dancers via live feed from Bryce Jordan Center, ate pizza, baked lasagna, and other goodies!

The kids in attendance showed off their skills by making their own pizzas!!! One of the “big kids”, George (your Treasurer) joined in the fun and made his own pizza as well!! (There was no contest….the kids were better!!!).

This year the Triangle PSU Chapter raised in excess of
$2,400.00!! WOW!!  The word from University Park is $9,563,016.09!!!! WOW
