info
For those of you new to the area and checking this information for the first time, we are happy to inform you that as a member of the Triangle Chapter you have access to Penn State Football.
Every July 1st marks the start of the new Chapter year and in a few short months most of us will be looking forward to watching the first Penn State football game of the season. It won’t be long before those cool days of autumn are upon us, so this is a great time to start planning a trip to Happy Valley to enjoy an exciting fall day at Beaver Stadium.
If going to Penn State is not in your plans this year, the Triangle Chapter provides a way you can cheer on the Lions with other Alumni by holding game parties every Saturday for your enjoyment.
The Chapter holds game parties each Saturday to provide a means for our members to come together and enjoy one of our favorite fall activities, cheering and watching Penn State Football!
Currently the Chapter meets at a sport bar called Oh Mulligans on Airport Blvd.
At many games we have the bar all to ourselves but plan to arrive early, since seating may be limited at times. We have a strong sound system with great Penn State songs and cheers thanks to the efforts of Matt Stewart.
Brian Zawacki is our Chapter Game Party Czar who leads us in cheers, gives away door and raffle prizes at haft time. It the next best thing to being there!
Of course, the best way is live action seen right from the stands! Our Chapter provides access to tickets to all of the football games each year. Tickets are limited to current chapter members and naturally are limited in quantity. In an effort to give those requesting tickets a fair chance to see a game, we have set up guidelines for requesting and issuing tickets. Penn State sets the price of tickets and the Chapter makes no profit on the sale or exchange of tickets and provides this as a benefit to our members.
The price of tickets will be given in the Chapter Newsletter and emails.
As an added bonus, during the first game party we will raffle off two tickets with parking pass to a home game TBD. All members who have paid their dues by the cutoff date, stated in the Chapter newsletter, will be eligible for the raffle. Members need not to be present to win and additional chances can be purchased with each donation of ten dollars to the Triangle Endowed Scholarship Fund, when included along with your dues payment. Send your dues and scholarship donation to the address on the membership form.
Home Game Tickets
Tickets to games may be requested after the issue of our first newsletter in mid July to within two weeks of a game. Once more than two or more requests are received for any one game, we inform members if their request can be honored. We attempt to do this seven to eight weeks from the game date to allow members time to make travel plans. If tickets have not been requested, we return tickets to Penn State or sell them to other Chapters.
Currently the Chapter has 4 tickets on the 30-yard line. These tickets are sold in pairs and come with a parking pass. If only one member requests tickets to a game, that member may purchase all 4 tickets. We also receive notice from other ticket holders, both in and out of the Chapter, who wish to sell tickets, which allows us to obtain additional tickets. Usually these tickets do not come with a parking pass.
Members should understand that this is a very dynamic procedure, and being able to respond quickly is the difference in being successful and loosing them to some other buyer. For this reason, we require all ticket requests come with a check for the full amount. The Chapter will cash your check upon receipt and hold the money until you receive tickets or the game is past. A full refund will be issued if we can not acquire tickets about a week after the game. We do not issue refunds for tickets. If for some reason you can not attend a game, we will attempt to sell them for you. There will be a 5 percent handling fee for this service.
Away Game Tickets
The Universities we visit limit the quantity of Away game tickets. In the past, they have been 2 or 4 for each game, per ticket holder. If we have advance notice, we can arrange to have several members requests tickets.
We request Away game tickets from Penn State only if we have a Ticket Request Form with payment by the cut off date. Usually requests for tickets must be in by June 1st to allow us to time to pass them on to Penn State by the cut off date of June 15th. This Chapter will provide notice either on this web site and/or via email if these dates change.
If you wish to request tickets, please fill out the Football Ticket Request Form and send it in with full payment to the address on the form. Due to cut off dates, Away game requests could be sent in before you have sent in your dues for the upcoming year. If this occurs, please also send in a separate membership check along with a membership form to the Chapter address.
